Printers display error codes when something prevents them from completing a print job. The error might be related to hardware, software, connectivity, or consumables like ink and paper.

HP Printer Errors

Error 0x6100004a — Carriage Jam

The print carriage is stuck or obstructed.

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Open the access door and check for paper jams or debris.
  3. Move the carriage manually — Gently slide it left and right to check for obstructions.
  4. Remove and reseat ink cartridges.
  5. Plug in and restart the printer.

Error 79 — Critical Firmware Error

A firmware or memory issue is preventing the printer from functioning.

  1. Turn off the printer and wait 30 seconds.
